Two couples, two gardens and death.

Dear in Christ,


The first 3 chapters of the Bible and the last 3 chapters of the Bible have a definite pattern.

In the first 3 chapters:

1. a heaven and earth were created.
2. there was a garden in it, with 2 trees, the tree of knowledge of good and evil and the tree of life.
3. a couple were placed in the garden, the FIRST Adam and his bride.
4. God used to make evening strolls in the garden.
5. there was a river flowing out of the garden.
6. a villain sneaked into the garden and messed up with the lives of the couple leading to their eviction from the garden.
7. the continuance of life was conditional.

In the last 3 chapters:

1. a new heaven and new earth are created.
2. there is a garden in it, with only one tree, the tree of life.
3. a couple are placed in the garden, the LAST Adam and his bride.
4. God is a permanent resident of the garden.
5. there is a river flowing out of the garden.
6. the continuous presence of God in the garden doesn't permit any villain to sneak into the garden.
7. the continuance of life is unconditional, as death is done away with.

If you remember well, God's warning to the first Adam was that he would die in the day in which he eats from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Did he die on the same day? The answer is a definite and emphatic YES. He didn't die biologically. Instead, he was evicted from the garden where God used to make his evening strolls. God didn't interact with him anymore.

Coming to the last 3 chapters of the Bible, we see God destroying the villain, before destroying the old heaven and the old earth, by throwing him into the lake of fire. Death and Hades are also thrown into the lake of fire, which makes death an impossibility in the new heaven and new earth.

In the description of the new heaven and the new earth we read that death is an impossibility there because death is already destroyed and there's the continuous presence of God there, preventing any villain from entering the garden and messing with the lives of the LAST Adam, his bride and their progeny.

The destruction of the old heaven and the old earth coincided with the destruction of the Jewish religious system, their holy city and their temple in the first century. (Rev 20:7-15) [There are some more patterns to the destruction and re-creation, I avoid them for the sake of brevity.]

So, we are living in the new earth, below the new heaven in an eternal garden where death is an impossibility, because we are in the continuous presence of God.
